laura napier and karen ay
Laura Napier, Fine Art graduate of Chelsea College of Art and Design, talked in Look into the future: the potential of your degree show about how to be prepared for unexpected opportunities – she got offered another exhibition during her show, and Charles Saatchi visited when all the work had to be taken down.
1. Prepare material in advance in case someone turns up at the last minute. Have examples of your work on a DVD, document your work in a portfolio or have a showreel.
2. Plan it properly Write lists of all the things you need to do and get a team together and helpers early on as it's easy to run out of time.
3. Stay sane Don't do outrageous things in your panic to get things done. Laura sneaked into college and tried to stay overnight! It's important to save your energy for the private view.
