This event showed you how to start up your creative practice on a shoestring, looking at real examples and giving tips about how you can make savings to make setting up your own business a viable option.

Emma Jones, founder of Enterprise Nation looked at starting up a business from home, she talked about how she set up her own business, basics to writing a business plan, what you need to make your first sale and how to take advantage of using free internet technology.

 

 

 

Deepa Panchamia, a textile artist and designer spoke about her experiences since graduating 5 years ago - what she had to be aware of straight away and how she researched everything - how to take advantage of free opportunities, getting associated with other organisations for support and funding, working part time, and marketing yourself and networking at all times.

Rachel Smart, an ECCA business advisor, looked at how important it is to plan you business to ensure you never waste money and use every opportunity efficiently. She discussed the differences between product based and commission based businesses, how you should expect your business to grow and how building up a business plan is like a sketchbook.
