Discover Design themes

We want you to use creative ways to communicate your experience of the London Design Festival.  Use the themes on your 'fortune teller' to create your response to the Festival in a variety of multi-media – photo, video, sound, graphic design, illustration or any other creative discipline. Submit your entries to the Discover Design website by Friday 5 October.

We have £2000 worth of prizes to give away!

Branding and Promotion

How do the events or companies stand out from the crowd and create a distinct identity? This is more than a logo – it's the work that they do, the style of the event and what they associate themselves with.  What do they do to create an aura of excellence around their creative work? How are the companies attracting the attention of their customers? What kind of people are they targeting and how? What special methods are they using to get their attention?

Protecting creative work

Do you know your © from your ™?

Copyright - Registered Designs - Trademarks - Patents

Every creative company must be aware of how they can protect and exploit the value in what they create – their intellectual property.

How do companies protect their creative work?  How do they apply their creative ideas in other ways to exploit their full potential?

Sustainability

Everyone's talking eco-friendly!  What different ways are events and companies responding to this theme? Is it the materials they source, processes they use or something else? How do they communicate their ethics?

Unique selling point (USP)

It's a competitive market out there.  What is special and unique about some of the events, companies or products you have seen? We don't just mean it 'looks nice' - we mean it's really special.  What are they doing that it would be really hard for someone else to do?  What gives them a competitive edge?

Discover Design etiquette

Remember to respect the intellectual property of your fellow creatives!  You may need to ask them if you want to record, film or photograph any part of their event.

Remember!  We're looking for submissions that show a good representation of the themes above. Don't forget to show us how they will inspire your own work and/or business.
