There will are activites across the University of the Arts London, plus the opportunity to get involved in the Olympic Challenge, meet the people that have been there and done it, and network with like-minded students and alumni!

Make Your Mark Challenge
This summer, entrepreneurial students from London College of Fashion were given the opportunity to contribute to the biggest show in the world, the closing ceremony of the Beijing Olympics and Paralympics 2008.The students were tasked with designing, making and styling the costumes and make up for the British singer and songwriter Leona Lewis as well as performers of the Royal Ballet, Zoo Nation and Candoco.
For Enterprise Week 2008, we would like to challenge students across Arts London to come up with ideas for a brief that targets London 2012. The Make Your Mark Challenge will be launched on Monday 17 November at the Enterprise Week launch party. The competition is designed for all students across the University and you'll have the opportunity to improve your enterprise capability, communication and planning skills.

Monday 17 November
10.00am-12.00pm: The Art of Self-promotion
Getting your work and your name out there can be a constant struggle for fine artists. Hear from sculptor Nick Hornby (Chelsea, 2007) on his techniques for engaging the press, PR consultant Penny Sychrava with an industry perspective, plus tips and advice from Artquest. Run in association with Employability.

2.00pm-4.00pm: Collective Art: planning a group exhibition
How to successfully plan a group show, from finding a space, curating, sponsorship, pricing and organising the private view. A range of experts will take you through the process: Lucy Wilson, PR Consultant at Theresa Simon & Partners; Eliza Gluckman, Curator & Project Manager at Day & Gluckman, and artist Alex Gough (Camberwell, 2005; Chelsea, 2002). Also, hear about the Students' Union's We Are Arts scheme and how you can book free gallery space across the University of the Arts London.

6.00pm-8.00pm: Enterprise Week launch party: taking it global!
Enterprise Week kicks off with a networking evening where you can find out how to get involved in the Olympic Challenge, hear from other Arts London alumni who have made their mark on the global stage, and network with other like-minded students from across the University. 12.00pm-1.00pm: Create your basic website in minutes
A simple website no longer needs to be a frustrating task. In this one-hour workshop we will demystify the powers of the web and show you how you can create beautifully-designed websites using Dreamweaver, Photoshop and Weebly.com.

2.00pm-4.00pm: Making money from your creativity: a guide to freelancing for graphic designers and illustrators
Would you like to use your creative talents to earn some money? Join us in this step-by-step run through creating a portfolio, self-promotion, attracting clients and handling commissions with the Association of Illustrators, YCN, illustrator Elin Svensson and graphic design/art direction duo Zamir & Antoine of EatSleepWorkPlay.

6.00pm-8.00pm: Ready, steady, go: turning your creative ideas into reality
Got an idea but not sure how to make it happen? Creative people are often brimming with ideas, but can find it difficult to get them up and running! This event will take you through planning your project, finding funding and attracting attention to your work. Find out about the University's Creative Seed Fund and hear expert tips and advice from Anna Goodman of Abstrakt Publicity, graphic designer Vicky Simmons, and the Students' Union President, Helen Gimber, with details of exciting opportunities here at Arts London.

An interactive hour to help you develop the skills and confidence to turn new contacts into networking opportunities. Practice speaking about your work and building relationships, figure out your own networking style and meet new people.

2.00pm-4.00pm: Talking Shop: selling your creative work
Learn how to make the most of markets, fairs and retail opportunities with this practical guide to selling your work. Find out how you can get involved in the Arts London Winter Market taking place in the last week of term (see www.suarts.org/wintermarket for more details). We'll cover pricing your work, dealing with customers, handling sales and setting up your space for maximum effect! If you are a visual creator the internet is an important portal for promoting your work. This event will discuss aspects of intellectual property you need to consider before displaying your work online and explains how you can safeguard your work and make money even when everybody will be able to copy you. Versatile designer Lydia Thornley outlines the knowledge and expertise needed for a successful project team, and discusses her experience of hiring freelance teams at large design practices such as Pentagram and Lewis Moberly, and at her own small consultancy. Plus ECCA will be on hand to provide essential tips on setting up as a freelancer.
