Opportunity 2: design the identity for Graduate Week 2008

Graduate Week is a week-long programme of workshops, talks and events, designed to help Arts London students launch their career after graduating. Find out more about previous Graduate Weeks and this year's programme here.

This competition, run with the help of the Design Practice, is to find the promotional identity for Graduate Week 2008, which will be used across all activity and items to create awareness of the event. All you need to do is register your details on the ECCA website, submit your response to the brief and wait for people to vote.

The student with the most votes, or the one ECCA feels is the best contribution, will see their design used across the University of the Arts London to promote the event, and will be paid £300 for their contribution. The winner will also receive one-to-one support from ECCA and meet with the Design Practice to get their work into production.

The brief

Design the identity for Graduate Week 2008, to be used across all promotional activity and items.  The identity should clearly contain the words 'Graduate Week 2008', and will be translated (by the Design Practice) to the following promotional items:

  • A2 poster
  • A5 flyer
  • Website banner
  • Cotton goodie bag
  • A4 PDF for printing in black and white

Guidelines

  • Submit one image that communicates your idea for the design identity of Graduate Week 2008.
  • Look at the previous examples of artwork below to see what you think would be suitable.  Remember that this identity will be used across different types of promotional material as listed above, and should appeal to University of the Arts London students
  • Work must be submitted in .GIF or .JPEG format, no bigger than 500 pixels wide
  • Deadline for submissions is: 3 April 2008

Submission criteria

  • You must be a student at University of the Arts London to enter
  • All submissions must be the original work of the participant
  • Submissions must not be offensive or contain illegal material

Details

  • All entries, except the winning entry, will remain copyright of the author. The winning entry will be credited to the author, used on the ECCA website and in other Graduate Week 2008 promotional material.
  • Submissions will not be made public before the deadline date. After the deadline date, all images that meet the criteria will be made available for ECCA members to vote on.
  • Once selected, the winner will attend a one-to-one advice session with ECCA and meet with the Design Practice to get their work into production.
